Play is serious work and we are serious about play. Kids need time to play on their terms and this is the camp that does that!
Do you remember summers as a kid when you made sand and water potions in a bucket with your best friend, played board games until you were bored, and ate when your body was hungry? Well we are doing our best to offer that kind of experience with Playborhood!
Research says that kids need unstructured time to pursue their interests, play on their terms, and explore the natural world in the ways they find meaningful. This is the camp that offers a supportive environment for this sort of valuable play.
We offer large blocks of unstructured time for kids to make forts, collect chicken eggs from our chicken coop, water the flowers, play in the mud, create their own art, build an epic Lego spaceship, collaborate on how to build a Minecraft world, look for bugs, have a dance party, conduct a science experiment…and even get bored!
Our facilitators are there to offer support to deal with big feelings and conflicts should children request it or to give support in finding resources to experiment and create.
Our multi-age environment makes this recreational program the perfect siblings or cousins to attend together and it is ideal for kids who like a gentle-parenting approach when it comes to big feelings. Parents like that we offer a low adult-child ratio and that all of our facilitators are highly qualified.
